Cancellations
Thank you for choosing Loucina Birth Keeping for your birth keeping needs. As part of our commitment to providing excellent service, we have developed a cancellation policy in line with trading standards UK.
When you make a booking with Loucina Birth Keeping, I require a 50% deposit to secure your care. This deposit is refundable within a 14 day period. If you cancel your booking, following this date you will forfeit this deposit. However, if you need to reschedule your booking, I will transfer your deposit to your new booking date, subject to availability.
In the event that you cancel your booking after 14 days, your deposit will be held. This is to ensure that I am fairly compensated for the time I have set aside to work with you.
If I need to cancel your booking for any reason, we will notify you as soon as possible and offer a full refund of your deposit.
We understand that unexpected circumstances may arise that are out of your control. If you have extenuating circumstances that require you to cancel your booking, please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to work with you to find a solution that is fair for both parties.
Thank you for choosing Loucina Birth Keeping.
Contract
I will provide you with a full contract to sign but please read the following before engaging in my birth keeping services.
As a birth keeper, I offer services to support you through the process of preparing for birth and during labour, birth, and bonding. My role is to provide emotional, practical, and informational support, drawing on my knowledge and experience to offer physical comfort measures, help with relaxation and positioning, and make suggestions for labour progress. I do not make decisions for you, but I can act as a spokesperson for you if needed. I am self-employed and work for you, not your caregiver or hospital, and my support is unconditional and confidential.
To provide my services, I prefer to meet with you and your partner at least twice before labour starts, to explore and discuss your priorities, fears, and concerns, and plan how we can work together. You can contact me 24/7 during pregnancy, and during labour, I remain with you, whether at home or in hospital, and support you through the physiological bonding period after birth.
In case of unforeseen circumstances, such as rapid labour, illness, or if you call me too late, I may not be able to attend, but the full fee still applies. I also work with a backup doula, and if you choose an elective section late in pregnancy or decide not to use my services less than three weeks before your due date, additional fees may apply. Due to the strict guidelines, I may not be able to transfer with you to the hospital, but I can offer postnatal support and consultations by phone or email for up to six weeks after birth.
Additionally, I offer optional extras, such as a two-hour session on preparing to breastfeed/debriefing, and the full fee is payable in advance, with a retaining fee.
