Testimonials

I had several complications during my pregnancy but Lou provided amazing support, care and advice whenever I needed. Lou even accompanied me to multiple hospital appointments. My labour didn’t go as planned but it was stress free because of Lou’s presence. After the birth we had an aggressive and unpleasant intervention from the local health services. This lasted many days with harassment from paramedics, midwives, health visitors and the police. Lou provided me with tremendous support during this time. I’m eternally thankful to Lou for delivering my baby safely. There aren’t sufficient words to demonstrate the immense gratitude I feel towards her. I wish there were more people like her in our daily lives. I would not hesitate to use her services again.

If you are on the fence about getting a birth keeper – do it!
And get Lou if you can!
By the time I got pregnant, thanks to WPCTS, I had a pretty clear idea about my pregnancy and birth, and most of my ideas weren’t what the NHS would have liked – outside of their guidelines as they said.
So after a few appointments, that I felt were completely useless, I decided I needed more support, because the thought of only having NHS midwives wasn’t really comforting. Thanks to Nickita, I found Lou and she has been amazing all throughout!
Lou has been supportive of my ideas from the beginning, and I finally had proper continuity of care too, because I knew she would be there at the birth for sure. She is so easy to talk to, and always ready to offer advice and some sources and materials to read if you are unsure about something. She never pushes anything on you, she is always respectful of your choices.
Attending a hospital appointment with me was invaluable as well, as she was asking all the right questions that I wanted to, just forgot in that moment. She has been a true advocate for me and my choices.
When the time came around for the birth, Lou came when I called, and was there to support me, not to interfere or interrupt. She let me lead, and was quietly observing. I felt completely supported and safe. In the end, both because of feeling completely safe and secure, and also because my little girl decided to come quite quickly and unexpectedly when I went out to the toilet, I didn’t feel the need to have any NHS midwives present at the birth. This way, I could experience birth as it was meant to be, completely free of interventions and interruptions.
I am forever grateful for this!

“I had my baby on the 31st of October, in the comfort of our home, a beautiful water birth. I get really emotional saying this but I don’t think I would’ve had the dream outcome that I had if it wasn’t for WPCTS. Louise Clay was my Birth keeper. An unbelievable women who helped me so much with finding confidence in myself that I didn’t call my midwife to attend in the end, I really didn’t feel I needed the NHS present at that point and we just had the most transcendental birthing experience. It went better than I could’ve imagined. I went from being labelled as “High risk” and being led down a fearful path, to fully trusting in the physiological process of my body and intuition.

There are many doulas out there that I met and spoke with but it quickly became evident to me that I didn’t need an incense waving doula. I always knew I needed an empowered no bullshit real talker. So much is sugar coated around birthing and much of the process becomes pathologised that it can seem impossible to navigate when pregnant for the first time.

The catalyst for me was a horrible experience talking with midwives after declining to take asprin everyday due to a low PAPP A result at 12 weeks. After that seed of doubt and fear was planted by the NHS I wanted to surround myself with a more informed voice. Louise was that voice of reason that I felt I could fully trust in my space. She encouraged us to do the research, to stay empowered and demystified so many unknowns for me, which helped put me at ease where otherwise I could’ve easily been coerced. The support was always available with regular in person visits, texts, phone calls and zoom calls where needed.

Louise brought a warmth and joyful reassurance that really helped to balance mine and my partners energy during our pregnancy.

I realise now how important is was for me to have an incredible Birthkeeper like Lou. She really helped to shift years of generational trauma and shame around birth for me, I was able to have more open conversations around where the fears stemmed from and now we have broken that cycle, I hope that we can both inspire more women to take their power back with this positive story. Thank you to Abigail who pointed me in the direction of WPCTS and to Nickita who recommended Louise to Olmo and I, may this sisterhood continue to grow”

“It’s been amazing having Lou supporting my husband and I during our first pregnancy. She has always been on hand to offer her knowledge & expertise which has been invaluable to us & helped us approach everything with confidence.

We bonded with her straight away & made us feel safe to talk about any issues openly & with honesty. Her insight helped us hugely when dealing with midwives who didn’t share the same outlook as us. With her information we felt empowered to have the birthing experience that we wanted.

We would recommend her service to anyone and everyone!”
